I’m very sad to hear of the death of Jean “Toots” Thielemans at the age of 94. A legend of jazz harmonica, Toots leaves an amazing legacy not least of which is the jazz standard “Bluesette” which he described as his “social security number”. Born in Belgium, he worked with some of the biggest names in jazz, and did much to promote the chromatic harmonica as a serious jazz instrument. He also played guitar and whistled rather splendidly. Thank you Toots, you were an inspiration!
